9.5.2 Shore power

The boat can be equipped with shore power. Note the following when using it:

  • Disconnect the shore power when the system is not in use.

  • Connect metallic housings or enclosures of installed electrical appliances to the protective conductor system in the boat.

  • Only use double-insulated or grounded (earthed) electrical appliances.

  • Do not alter shore power cable connectors. Only compatible cable connectors and shore power receptacles.

  • Test the operation of the RCD (Residual Current Device) monthly.

  • If the reverse polarity indicator is activated, do not use the electrical system. Correct the polarity fault before activating the electrical system on the boat.

Risk of electrical shock!

Do not allow any part of the shore power cable to hang in the water. An electrical shock can result in injury or death to nearby swimmers.

To minimize the risk electrical shock and fire hazard:

  1. Turn off the boat's shore power connection switch before connecting or disconnecting the shore power cable.

  2. Connect the shore power cable to the boat’s inlet before connecting it to the shore power source.

  3. If the reverse polarity indicator is activated, turn off the boat's shore power connection switch immediately (if fitted).

  4. Disconnect the shore power cable from the shore power source first.

  5. Close the shore power inlet cover tightly.
